History Released into BR traffic from Vulcan Foundry as D6971 on 18 March 1965, this locomotive was first allocated to Cardiff Canton. It received its unusual name ‘An Commun Gaidhealach’ (The Gaelic Association) at Edinburgh in October 1986, before entering the Provincial General Pool from January 1989.
